In many states, a minor does not need parental consent to relinquish a child; however, talking to your parents or an adult family member is the best idea. They may be much more understanding and supportive than you think. If you don’t want to talk with them alone, you can ask a clergy person, school counselor, therapist, or another family member to help. There are also counselors available through crisis pregnancy centers who may be able to help or to refer you to someone who can help.
