You can search, however it is not legal for anyone to release information about the adoption to you while your child is a minor. The best alternative is to put a letter in your child’s adoption file (through the state or agency that handled the adoption) giving your location, current health, and any other information you choose to include, so that when your child and/or his/her adoptive parents are ready, they will be able to find you. Making unsolicited contact with a minor may result in legal entanglements.
